Breeding Policy

Huntersvlei's policy is to breed animals that consistently perform to the expectations of our buyers. These are animals out of fertile foundation families that have been established over the last 79 years. Our herd's history is a testament to the reliable and predictable results our animals produce.

We currently run the stud as two herds. First is our original horned herd established in 1945 and which produces the bulls we have become famous for.

Secondly is our polled herd, established in 2008 from imported genetics. This breeding program focuses on breeding homozygously polled animals of the same quality as our horned herd, with the added benefit of producing polled calves , eliminating the need to dehorn.
