Interestingly, the South African market for Ringneck Parakeets faces a unique challenge. With stringent regulations requiring permits for ownership and the export of these birds, the market demand is relatively low. Despite the hurdles, the Prestige Hooked-Bill Bird Auction served as a platform to educate and inspire enthusiasts, fostering a deeper appreciation for the species. The Moustache birds, another star of the show, proved to be both highly-priced and not easily accessible to the average South African enthusiast. These birds, adorned with distinctive facial markings, are a symbol of elegance and rarity, making them highly sought after by collectors, exporters and enthusiasts alike.
